Designing A Barcode Label In Labelworks
NOTE: Don’t proceed with these instructions until you have followed the Tech Note for configuring your specific Label Printer in Labelworks.
- Observe the TOOLS box in the upper right corner of the screen below.
- Place mouse cursor over the letter T [Text Box] and left click mouse once.
- Move mouse cursor to the part of the label where you want to place this Text Box.
- Left click your mouse, and type the letters aa.
- Return the mouse cursor to the Tools Box and left click the cursor icon.
- Return the cursor to the letters aa and left click once. Text box is now highlighted.
- Now press right mouse button. Text Specifications box appears.
- Under Data Type select File Input. This highlights File Input Specs bar.
- Click on File Input Specs. The Merge File Fields show the fields listed in the BCR.DAT file.
- Select the name of the product by pressingv the left mouse button. This moves the name to the Label Fields box.
- Click on Field Stripping Specs... box.
- Select Strip Leading Spaces and Strip Trailing Spaces. Then click OK.
- Click OK in the next panel to return to the Text Specifications box.
- Under Slide Options you may select the Font and Font Size, depending on size of label.
- When selections are complete, click on OK in lower right corner.
- A panel will appear on the screen about changing field from constant…, select YES.
- By pressing the left mouse button and holding it down inside the highlighted Text Box, you may move the box to your desired location on the label.
- To add further Text Boxes, which would also include Prices, repeat the above instructions.
- To add the Barcode, move the mouse cursor to the Tools Box and left click once on the barcode symbol in lower right corner.
- Move the cursor back to the label and left click once on the position where you want the Barcode to be.
- Type two capital XX’s, move back to the Tools Box, and select the cursor Icon.
- Return you cursor to the center of the highlighted Barcode and press the right mouse button.
- This brings you to the Bar Code Specifications box.
- In the Data Type box, select File Input, then select Field Specs...
- In the Merge File Fields box, select the SKU number by left clicking it.
- This moves the SKU number to the Label Fields box.
- Select the Field Stripping Specs... box, and select Strip Leading Spaces and Strip Trailing Spaces.
- Click OK then click OK again at the Attach Fields box.
- This brings you back to the Barcode Specifications box.
- Left click on the Human Readable Options bar.
- In this box, you can select your Font and Size of the SKU number that print with the Barcode.
- Remember to click on the Field Stripping bar and select Strip Leading Spaces and Strip Trailing Spaces, then click OK, and at Human Readable Options click OK again.
- This returns you to the Bar Code Specifications Screen. At the bottom of the screen are the selections for the printed barcode. Code 39, Density and Height Selection are dependent on the size of the label.
- After making selections click OK. Once again the panel, "Changing field from constant…" appears. Click Yes.
- Remember to save your changes and name the label.
