Instructions For Using The AM3000 with
RS232 Serial Connection:

For brand new AM3000 units:

  1. Turn on the, AM 3000, data collector.
  2. It will prompt you for a password (type) M3000P [enter]
  3. It will then pompt you to EDIT PROGRAM, scroll down to PGM P2 [enter]
  4. Once that is finished click EXIT
  5. It will ask to SAVE NEW PROGRAM click YES, and then click EXIT.
  6. This will bring you to the PORTABLE MODE SELECT FUNCTION screen.
  7. Now it ready to go.

Inputting the Data:

  1. Turn on the, AM3000, data collector. It will bring to the display PORTABLE MODE SELECT FUNCTION.
  2. Click on INPUT (the letter I)
  3. It will then prompt SELECT PROGRAM
  4. Scroll down using down arrow key on keypad to PGM P2 [enter]
  5. The next prompt will have you INPUT FILE *NEW FILE * press [enter]
  6. Type whatever name you wish (e.g. DATA) [enter]
  7. P/N QTY display on the screen.
  8. At this point you may start scanning inventory or manually enter SKU’s and Qty. When done press EXIT.
  9. It will then ask to EXIT DATA ENTRY press YES.
  10. Then will prompt SAVE DATA FILE press YES.
  11. Press EXIT to return to PORTABLE MODE SELECT FUNCTION.
  12. Turn the unit off and you can go do the Xmit of data.

Xmit Data:

Turn your computer off and connect the RS232 connector cable to the Com port. Plug the AM3000 to it and restart the computer.

Once the computer is up, turn on the AM3000. It should read PORTABLE MODE SELECT FUNCTION.

  1. At the Windows Desktop, click on Start | Programs | Accesssories | Hyperterminal.
  2. Double click the “Hypertrm” Icon.
  3. Name the new connection AM3000 or what ever name you prefer.
  4. The next screen request a phone number. At the bottem of the panel select “Connect Using:” Direct to Com ?. Select the number of the correct Com port you are using, and click OK.
  5. Set your port settings to 9600, 8, None, 1, Hardware. Click OK.
  6. The large Hyperterminal screen appears next. Click on FILE, PROPERTIES. In the Properties panel click on the tab SETTINGS, the bar ASCII Setup. Click on “Append line feeds to incoming line ends”. Click OK. And click OK again at the next panel.
  7. Turn on the AM3000 and at PORTABLE MODE SELECT FUNCTION, press XMIT.
  8. The panel now reads “Transmit Select Upload Data.” Press ENTER
  9. “Upload Selection All Data Files”” Press ENTER.
  10. “Transmit Mode”. Press down arrow until next line of display reads “RS232 Serial” and press ENTER. The AM3000 will transmit the data to the Hyperterminal screen.
  11. Data Upload Complete” is displayed on the screen of the AM3000. Press EXIT.
  12. “Erase Uploaded Data Files” is displayed on the screen of the AM3000. Press NO then Press Exit twice.
  13. Display on the AM3000 now reads ”Portable Mode Select Function” again. You may turn off the AM3000 by pressing OFF.
  14. In the Hyperterminal screen move your mouse curser the beginning character, press your left mouse button and drag the mouse to the right and down to highlight all the imported text on the page or pages.
  15. Click in EDIT, COPY.
  16. Exit Hyperterminal and save the Session, assigning a name of your choice.
  17. In the Windows Desktop click on START | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES | NOTEPAD.
  18. In the blank document screen in Notepad, click on EDIT, PASTE.
  19. Click on FILE, SAVE AS, and save the file to the \BIZWIN folder giving it a name of your choice.

Import Data:

  1. Open MicroBiz and click on Tools | MicroTrak | Import Data.
  2. Choose the Data Format as *.CSV (ASCII with Variable Field Width, Delimited with Commas).
  3. Go to Fields to Import and check SKU and QUANTITY
  4. Then choose to Add to Existing or Replace Inventory on hand.
  5. Click on import Find the DATA.CSV file and click IMPORT.
  6. A panel called OPEN appears. Select the Notepad file you saved and click on Import.
  7. It will tell you how many records received
  8. Tell you its ready to update inventory and ask if you want an Exception Report.
  9. It is recommended you at least view the Exception Report to the screen to verify the files are complete.
  10. Then it will ask to proceed to update select yes
  11. It will now update the Inventory totals.
