Testing Serial Cash Drawers
TEST PROCEDURE:
- Testing the cash drawer involves configuring the serial port and sending data to the cash drawer.
- The following program is for testing the cash drawer prior to configuring in MicroBiz customize settings.
- These procedures must be executed from the DOS prompt.
- The port specified in the following instructions must be the port the cash drawer is plugged into: ie. Com1: or Com2:.

The cash drawer will open when [ENTER] is pressed.
* The MODE command must be entered into the Autoexec.bat file so it can execute each time the computer is turned on.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE:
If your cash drawer will not open check the following items before proceeding any further.
- Is the 12 volt power supply plugged into the wall outlet and is the other end connected to the cash drawer.
- Check the interface cable to see that it is firmly connected to the computer.
- Verify you are connected to the proper Com port. If your MODE command is designating COM1: be certain your cash drawer cable is connected to COM1: in the computer. If your MODE command is designating COM2: be certain the cash drawer cable is connected to COM2: in the computer.
- Be sure the drawer lock is set to the proper position to allow the cash drawer to open.
- The cash drawer must open with these test procedures before configuring within MicroBiz.
- Check the Windows settings for the designated COM port to make certain they match your MODE command settings.
