MicroBiz Only Setup
This is for business owners who don’t want their employees playing computer games or surfing the internet at work.
This routine puts the User directly into the MicroBiz System when booting up the computer, and will not allow the User to go into Windows in any event.
There will be no taskbar, and upon exiting out of MicroBiz (which can be password protected), the User will be at a blank screen, unable to do anything except reboot the system and hit the "DEL" Key to go into "SETUP".
- Go to start, run, and type sysedit in the open window. Click OK.
- Go to the windows\system.ini window.
- Look for the line that reads shell=explorer.exe and change it to shell=c:\bizwin\mb.exe.
- When you restart the computer, it will load MicroBiz directly, and you will be unable to switch to Windows. It is strongly advised to password protect exiting out of MicroBiz by going to Management/Edit Security Level.
If you ever want to use Windows on this machine, you can reset it by doing the following:
- Reboot the computer. While it’s booting, hit F8 to get into the startup menu. To make certain you hit it at the right time, just hold the F8 key down until the startup menu appears.
- From the menu, choose command prompt only
- Type cd\windows to switch to the windows directory.
- Type edit system.ini
- Change shell=c:\bizwin\mb.exe back to shell=explorer.exe
- Go to file, save and exit.
