HLP Keyblocks = Upgrading

It is necessary to have Programmable Hardware Locks (HLP’s) re-burned if customers upgrade from Easy Business to Business Controller Plus or if there is an increase in the number of users (single user to multi user, 5 users to 7, etc).

When the new keyblock is put into the customer's machine, it will usually read the old version or number of users. To get the MicroBiz program to recognize the new features, the customer must do the following:

  • Exit the MicroBiz program completely on all machines (back to the Windows Desktop).
  • Go to a DOS prompt (go to start, run, type in command and click OK) This will put the User to a "C" prompt "C:\WINDOWS>"
  • Type cd\business (enter). This will give the User the following prompt "C:\BUSINESS>"
  • Type del swap*.* (enter)
  • Type exit (enter)
  • Start the MicroBiz program.

The swap files hold the keyblock information. If they do not exist, the program will search for the keyblock and create the swap files based on the information it finds (version, number of users, etc).

The system should now recognize the new keyblock with the correct version and number of users.
