Using MS-DOS EditFrom a DOS prompt you can enter EDIT two ways: the first is by typing EDIT and the filename you wish to edit, and the second is by typing EDIT and hitting the ENTER key.
Once in EDIT, to open a document do the following: Enter the filename and hit enter
To save the document under the same filename, do the following:
To save the document under a different name, do the following: Enter the new filename and hit enter
To print the document, do the following: select Complete or Cursor Position
To exit EDIT, do the following: If the file has not been saved select yes here, otherwise say no. Product: All Controller Series The MS-DOS Edlin Program To use EDLIN, you must specify the filename to be edited when loading the program, ie: EDLIN AUTOEXEC.BAT. Once in the Edlin program, you will see an asterisk (*). At this point, you will need to display a listing of the entire file. To do this, press the "L" key and hit enter. To edit a line, enter the line number at the * prompt and press enter. When done editing the line, press enter which will return you to the * prompt. To delete a line, enter the line number at the * prompt, then put the letter 'D' next to it. Be sure that this is the line you wish to remove prior to hitting enter. To insert a new line(s), enter the line number where you wish to insert the new information, and then the letter "I" at the * prompt. After entering all lines, press the enter key, then, on a blank line, press CTRL-C. This will return you to the * prompt. To save your file, enter the letter "E" at the * prompt and hit enter. This will save your file and return you to DOS. To abort any and all changes since the last save, type QUIT at the * prompt and hit enter. You will be asked "are you sure." Enter yes or no. Product: All Controller Series Using DR-DOS's EDITOR To enter DR-DOS Editor, you can either enter EDITOR and the filename you wish to edit or just type EDITOR at a DOS prompt. To call a document to screen, enter Ctrl-KR. This will place the file requested at the cursor's position on the screen. To Save a document to disk, enter Ctrl-KS. This will save the file to the same name. To save a document to disk and edit a new document, enter Ctrl-KD. To Save a document and exit to DOS, enter Ctrl-KX.
