Percon PT2000 part II

How to Interface the Percon PT2000 Portable Data Collector

This unit has the same functionality as the AM3000 data collector, the only difference being that the Percon has to be modified to work with MicroBiz.

What you need to do is change the Percon Program Generator (PPG) that comes with the Percon and install the MicroBiz equivalent.

  1. Connect the serial cable (part #00-884-19/female/25 pins) to COM1 or COM2 and the other end to the unit.
  2. Turn the unit on.
  3. Place the MicroBiz Percon Program Generator diskette* into the appropriate floppy disk drive (A or B).
  4. At the DOS prompt type the following and then enter:
    PDPROG MICROBI4.HEX /1 (use /2 for COM2)
  5. When the upload is complete, the unit will prompt you to enter the date.
If the date is correct, just press the enter key (red key).
  6. Unplug the keyboard from the computer and put the Y cable (part #00-100-00/male/25 pins) into the keyboard port (one end - "d" shaped male / other end - round female)
  7. Connect the short black cable (part #00-884-20/female/25 pins) to the 25 pin male and the other side to the Percon 15 pin female port.

Now you are ready to scan inventory items and upload your data.

Note that for Wedge communication you need Percon cables #00-100-00 and #00-884-20 in addition to the MicroBiz Percon Program Generator.

* - If downloaded from BBS (PERCON4.EXE), you must first extract the necessary files on your hard drive (in a temporary directory) and then copy back to a high density floppy diskette.
