Menlo Park, CA (March 5, 2012) – New CAM Commerce Solutions LLC, a leading vendor of retail management software, has spun out the assets of its MicroBiz point of sale software business into a new company, MicroBiz LLC. The new company will be owned and operated by Kevin T. Kogler, the former President of CAM Commerce. The business will be based in Menlo Park CA, with a development facility in Las Vegas NV. As part of this transaction, several key employees of CAM Commerce will join MicroBiz LLC, including Jose Arteaga as Director of Sales and Stephen Walcott as Director of Development.
MicroBiz was founded in 1985 and was acquired by CAM Commerce Solutions in August 2000. MicroBiz currently markets MicroBiz Business Controller, a Windows-based point of sale software solution purchased by close to 25,000 retailers worldwise.
In May 2012, MicroBiz plans to release a new version of the current Windows-based MicroBiz product to address several long standing bugs and enhancement requests, including certification on the Windows 7 operating system. This will enable current customers to easily upgrade hardware without any compatibility issues. Longer term, MicroBiz is also developing MicroBiz Online, a completely new web-based integrated point of sale/eCommerce software as a service (SaaS) targeted at local multi-channel merchants. MicroBiz Online will combine easy to use yet feature rich web-based point of sale software with the popular and powerful Magento Community eCommerce platform. This completely integrated solution will enable local multi-channel retailers to operate their retail stores and eCommerce sites with a single Cloud-based management system – including unified product records, customer records, inventory management and reporting.
“Separating MicroBiz from CAM Commerce will allow us to focus exclusively on launching MicroBiz Online” says Kevin Kogler, President and CEO of MicroBiz LLC. “This completely new web-based point of sale offering will allow any of the 120,000+ merchants running a Magento Community eCommerce site the ability to seamlessly integrate their offline ‘brick and mortar’ store with their online operations – eliminating the need to do double data entry or manage two sets of customer or inventory records. Furthermore, our ability to harness the power of the Magento Community and open source technologies will allow MicroBiz to offer a feature-rich integrated point of sale/eCommerce offering at very low monthly fees.”
